Holy Family holds the distinction of being the first parish to be established in the newly formed Diocese of Palm Beach, founded in 1987. The first Mass was celebrated at the Knights of Columbus Hall on Ravenswood Road, Port St. Lucie, on Palm Sunday, April 12, 1987. Our first pastor was the Reverend Martin B. Mulqueen. Daily Mass was first held in the garage of the Rectory located on Canby Road. We quickly outgrew the Rectory, and in order to accommodate the increased number of people wishing to attend daily Mass, we then moved to the Treasure Coast Mall movie theater, lovingly named "Popcorn Heaven." Later in 1987, the Saturday Vigil and Sunday Masses were celebrated at the Village Green Elementary School cafeteria.
